In a different meta-analysis based on 46 original research studies, Van den Noort et al. However, the bilingual advantage has polarized academics as a controversial, difficult to replicate phenomenon, earning the nickname of “Loch Ness monster”. The results demonstrated that, compared to monolinguals, bilinguals exhibit enhanced auditory sensory memory and phonetic and phonological learning skill, and a correlation exists between them.įor decades, the psycholinguistic literature has reported the existence of a bilingual cognitive advantage whereby bilingual language experience is thought to enhance cognitive functions and ultimately contribute to cognitive reserve. The participants were trained and tested on an artificial accent of English and their auditory sensory memory was assessed based on a digit span task. Our study is innovative in investigating phonetic learning skills and auditory sensory memory in the same speakers from two groups: monolinguals and early bilinguals. Bilinguals outperformed monolinguals in tasks involving auditory processing and episodic memory recall, but the questions whether (1) bilinguals’ auditory sensory memory skills are also enhanced, and (2) phonetic skill and auditory sensory memory are correlated, remain open, however. The other approach, understudied to date, emphasizes the role of sensory mechanisms, specifically auditory sensory memory. While still controversial, executive function enhancements attributed to bilingual experience have been reported for decades. One is related to executive function, speculating that more effective learning is achieved through actively choosing relevant information while inhibiting potentially interfering information. Two non mutually-exclusive approaches might explain these results. Send us feedback.Bilingualism has been linked with improved function regarding certain aspects of linguistic processing, e.g., novel word acquisition and learning unfamiliar sound patterns. Current hardware is designed to work couple of hours per day under low or mixed load. Regardless of used CPU stress software it may damage something when it's running at 100% load for many hours. We are using desktop hardware and barely anyone is using it for real work but most users care about it like it was mission critical hardware performing 24h+ stability tests. DDR5 RAM & PCIe4.0 SSDPre-installed 32G(2x16G) DDR5 RAM up to 4800MHz. GTR6 is the highest configuration of AMD products in the Mini PC category. Other thing is that long stability testing. Ryzen9 6900HX ProcessorBeelink GTR6 comes with AMD Ryzen9 6900HX Processor, 8-Core 16-Thread up to 4.90GHz. So you spend 1h on CPU + 1h on memory/cache and it's done, instead of 2 days of tests which are not showing any special differences. Noone is saying to run 24h+ in new Prime95 but 30-40mins usually stress CPU more and finds any errors faster than 24h of lighter stability tests. So you are testing stability but you won't check if it's stable when full CPU functionality is utilized ? Later you see guys who are complaining that after 5h Prime or anything else it's still crashing in some games. It's stressing CPU more for sure but if your daily applications are using these instructions then you won't turn it off. Heres my specs/build Case: Lian Li LI PC-O11 Dynamic EVO Motherboard: ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Extreme CPU: Intel 13900K CPU Cooler: EVGA CLCx 360mm All-In-One LCD CPU Liquid Cooler (swapped out EVGA fans for phanteks & set to exhaust position) Thermal Paste: Removed EVGAs stock paste. I also still have no idea why suddenly all are afraid to use new Prime95 or other programs which are using new instructions. Every test is good for some purposes so for overall stability you have to use couple of programs. Last edited by mr clark25 December 27th, 2009 at 01:00 AM.If it's not fully stressing CPU then it's not testing it right.ĭuring stability tests you have to check various scenarios like constant full load but also mixed load as sometimes when CPU load drops to ~0-10% then C stages or other settings are causing voltage etc drop and when it jumps quicky to full load then not everything will react on time ( that's why some boards have manual vrm frequency and other things ). if i could compare two commands (while running the "watch" command), i could really do something with this. (the "test" part of "stress test")ģ.i cant do this by myself. (the "stress" part of "stress test")Ģ.i need a way to compare the output of two commands. this works great for stress testing, but i can only test my cpu for heat output. i did some experimenting, and came to what i have now.ġ. i knew then that i had found an use for this. i had the system monitor open on accident when i typed "pi 500000" into a terminal. I knew there had to be some use for this. i also figured out that it is much faster than super pi, so the results weren't comparable. i posted to the forums about this and found out about the "time" command. so, i then typed this into the terminal: pi 1048576 and timed it myself. then i went to the forums to try to find out how many digits super pi calculated pi to. Why not boot into a live Linux ISO and then run mprime or stress (Two different programs, the former allowing for more benchmarks and stress-tests. i quickly found out that i can chose how many digits to calculate pi to by typing a number after i type pi. it said that i needed a program to do that. so, i started trying to find an alternative. but, i kept getting an error, no matter what i did. I was trying to get super pi to work on a computer to see how it compares to other computers. So, for now, i need to know if there is a command (or a way to) that compares the output of two commands, and alert me if the two outputs are different. i have a processor with 2 threads, and, if i run this in 4 terminals at once, it works just as good as prime95. You may need to increase the number after "pi" if you have a faster cpu. (one for each thread your cpu has) i recommend that you run two for each thread because cpu usage will drop to about 90% every so often if you don't. The only catch is that you must run this command several times, all in separate terminals, all at the same time. (command: sudo apt-get install pi)Īnd this command works great for stressing a cpu: watch -n.1 pi 2000000 This is a summary of what i have come up with so far: (like stop or bring up a warning) i also need it to work with the "watch" command. To start, i want to know if there is a way to compare the output of 2 commands, and do something if the two outputs are different. "Instead of lugging drawings around, we have our iPads," Rorrio says. "Let's take a look at the most important parts of how we manage a project-RFIs, submittals, plan management-and tackle those first." Rorrio recalls rolling the system out, and the immediate benefit provided by the several Procore tools they’d opted to start with. The committee had decided on a practical, phased approach to Procore, one that spoke to familiar REEDER pain points. The drawing set probably had 350 pages of drawings, so Procore’s drawings tool was perfect for our superintendents-from day shift to night shift, good communication, RFIs, pictures everything. "It was a two-year, multi-phase, nine-building project. "Procore’s document management is absolutely astonishing." REEDER Senior Superintendent David Rorrio was on the committee that both researched Procore and decided how best to put the software through the wringer. RFIs, Submittals, Plan Management, and the Cat’s Meow "We used the biggest project we’d ever had as the first project to adopt Procore." "We created a Procore committee," Reeder says, then grins. In typical REEDER fashion, they indelicately hurled the Procore platform into the mix. This was the inception of why we wanted to go to a digital platform. "I said, there's got to be a better way to communicate plans between the office and the field. Reeder estimates the process took 45 minutes to an hour of expensive project time. Twenty five minutes of collaboration and solution-finding in the trailer were followed by the long walk back. The super says, ‘Well, let's go back to my trailer. "We went over to a dusty set of scaffolding that had only the electrical plans. The super says, ‘Let's go look at your plans.’" Reeder raises an eyebrow of foreshadowing. I was walking with the superintendent on the project, and the electrician approached to ask him a question. "It was Birdville Elementary School a $20 million, brand new, ground-up replacement school on campus. What brought REEDER to Procore and the world of digital construction management technology? Lane Reeder-Chief Operations Officer and Vice President-can boil it down to a single incident. As outlined in the origin story above, the company doesn’t shy away from decisions. Their K-12 renovations and ground up construction are based in the metroplex area of Dallas-Fort Worth and surrounding independent school districts. REEDER’s work today is largely in the public education sector. Spending an Hour on What Should Take a Minute Today’s REEDER thrives on that same energy. Which is all to say, REEDER Construction did not gently tiptoe into the business. At the end of the project, Reeder quietly hitched his jobsite trailer and towed it home. They pumped the water out, of course-at five gallons per minute. It’s fair to say he was in some instances innovating on the fly, reproducing the 4-inch thick wooden doors in his barn.īefore he could install the required elevator, a crew of 12 laborers spent 10 brutal days smashing a hole through two feet of 90 year-old concrete, then hit ground water while drilling the shaft. Reeder scribbled his proposal on a yellow pad, got the go-ahead and dove in. The remodel of a storied old library in Hillsboro, TX would require exact replication of the building’s historic but timeworn elements. In 1994, founder Wes Reeder rolled up his sleeves and-in a hair-raising example of determined "Can Do”-tackled Reeder General Contractors’ (now REEDER Construction) very first project. An embolus can lodge itself in a blood vessel. In the absence of intervention, the membranes generally rupture at the onset of labor or near full cervical dilation. The diagnosis is of exclusion based on clinical presentation. The amniotic fluid provides mechanical protection for the fetus and umbilical cord and allows growth and movement. The diagnosis of AFE has been established at autopsy when fetal squamous cells are found in the maternal pulmonary artery blood however, fetal squamous cells are also sometimes present in the circulation of laboring women who do not develop AFE. Data from the National Amniotic Fluid Embolism Registry suggests that the process resembles anaphylaxis more than embolism, and the terminology of "anaphylactoid syndrome of pregnancy" has been recommended because fetal tissue or amniotic fluid components are not always found in women who present with signs and symptoms attributable to amniotic fluid embolism. Steiner and Luschbaugh first described amniotic fluid embolism in 1941, after they found fetal cells in the maternal pulmonary circulation, who died during labor. In the United States, AFE occurs in 2 to 8 per 100,000 deliveries and is the cause of maternal mortality between 7.5% to 10%. Survivors are frequently left with serious cardiac, renal, neurologic, and pulmonary dysfunction. The presentation is abrupt, usually with sudden cardiorespiratory collapse followed by severe coagulopathy and refractory resuscitation. Amniotic fluid embolism (AFE) represents the second leading cause of peripartum maternal death in the United States and the number one cause of peripartum cardiac arrest. Amniotic fluid embolism (AFE) is a life-threatening obstetric emergency characterized by sudden cardiorespiratory collapse and disseminated intravascular coagulation. Privilege creep: Privilege creep is the gradual accumulation of access rights. The following terms and concepts relate to PoLP and define particular scenarios that relate to the implementation of an effective PoLP strategy. As a result, system administrators need to monitor their environment and continuously ensure that PoLP is enforced in the strictest possible terms. Managing the information security of an environment by implementing the principle of least privilege is not an event but a process. For instance, it provides data security and audit capabilities, improving compliance and reporting. In addition to reducing the attack surface, PoLP limits the potential damage and improves the management and maintainability of a technology environment. The fewer people with privileged access to a system or data, the less risk to the system from an attack or user error. The same rule applies to information security. Similarly, if every staff member has keys to the safe, the likelihood of them falling into the wrong hands increases exponentially.Īs illustrated in the analogy, the principle of least privilege reduces the potential attack surface. If a bank robber enters a bank where everyone has access to the safe, robbing that bank would be far easier than another bank where only the manager has the keys. As a result, the manager is the only individual with the keys. Applying the principle of least privilege, the manager needs access to the safe. Consider a bank with general staff and a bank manager. The following analogy illustrates the principle of least privilege in both scenarios. Similarly, it protects an organization from downtime or data breaches due to user error. As threat actors follow the path of least resistance when trying to obtain unauthorized access to a system, PoLP fortifies systems by reducing the number of potential access points. The primary objective of the principle of least privilege is to enhance the security of an application, network, or technology environment. Similarly, an application's service account that can access confidential information in a database, such as customer credit card details, is another example of a privileged account. For example, a system administrator that can apply updates, add users, and restart an application is a privileged account. Privileged accounts can refer to user accounts or system accounts with greater access to system functions or stored data. Information security practice typically categorizes accounts as either privileged or non-privileged. For example, some users may only be able to execute particular functions, while others may be able to do more such as restart the application or apply updates. It is also used to define what users can do on a system. For instance, it determines which users can access a particular file or which devices can access a specific network. The word privilege in this context refers to system rights or data access. It states that any user, device, workload, or process should only have the bare minimum privileges it needs to perform its intended function. The principle of least privilege (PoLP), also known as the principle of minimal privilege or the principle of least authority, is an information security concept. It was definitely a pleasant surprise after my poor past experiences with other eTuners who I will refrain from mentioning at this time. Eric is extremely nice and professional, quick to respond, and just a great guy to work with. I'd recommend Torqued Performance to anyone willing to install the fuel line fix (which only takes 20 minutes BTW). The car pulls extremely hard, idles perfectly and drives very smooth. Eric was able to eliminate every instance of feedback knock and fine knock learn, even with highway driving where some fine knock learn can almost always be expected. That tune was great as well but still had some hesitation and feedback knock issues. And this includes the dyno tune I received from TheBoostCreep (Harvey) for my Stage 3 '07 WRX. My final tune is smoother and pulls harder than any tune I've ever had. In my case it took 7 revisions over the course of 3 days but it was well worth all the driving/logging involved. This process continued until Eric was 100% happy with how everything looked. After sending these first 2 logs to Eric he was quick to respond (within a couple of hours) with a new revision of the tune. It involves logging a 4th gear WOT pull then logging a 30 minute light cruise. The process is pretty tedious because Eric is extremely diligent and doesn't settle for anything less than perfect. After a couple quick logs it was clear that the car was already running noticeably smoother and with less feedback knock and fine knock learn than it did with the COBB OTS map. After installing the new fuel line I flashed the base map Eric sent over. So this week I installed the 3' fuel line fix thanks to THIS GUIDE. And those members said they were very happy with the outcome. However, I spoke with a couple other members here and over on NASIOC who told me that if you do the 3' fuel line fix he will tune the STI. Apparently he tends to stay away from tuning 2008+ STI's due to the fuel line hesitation issue that our cars suffer from. Mods: COBB intake, COBB Accessport, 3' Fuel Line Fix (everything else stock)Įric Torqued Performance has become pretty well known for tuning 2008+ WRX's with excellent results and very happy customers. Additionally, it has an almost outrageous number of compartments. In terms of size, this bag is quite large, with 41L of storage capacity. You can find more examples in my roundup of the best smart backpacks here. What is a smart backpack? It is a bag designed for urban commuting in a connected world. The Sosoon XL is a spacious and inexpensive smart backpack with enough room for everything you need from day to day. And that’s an essential feature for any big backpack.įind more Oakley Kitchen Sink Backpack information and reviews here. It also has a horizontal sternum strap and a hip belt to safely distribute the weight. The Kitchen Sink pack makes carrying heavy loads easy too, with a compression-molded back panel and adjustable shoulder straps. Plus, there would still be room left over. I can pack away my laptop, a head-to-toe change of clothes, a 1-gallon Camelbak, and two footlong sandwiches. The shape of the pack does make it feel a little bulky, but that should be expected from a bag of this size. It has a side-access sleeve for up to 15-inch laptops, exterior daisy chains, a front organizer panel, a mesh sunglasses pocket, a media pocket, a bottom shoe compartment, and side pockets galore. Even if you did cram a kitchen sink in there, it would be a total waste of this brilliantly compartmentalized pack. Its main compartment is large enough to fit almost everything you could need, but not an actual kitchen sink. It measures 20 x 14 x 8 inches and has an internal volume of 34L. And it clearly is.Īs its name suggests, Oakley’s Kitchen Sink backpack is for the person who brings everything with them. That said, this bag has to take whatever space it can get if the goal is maximum storage capacity. Hydration is crucial no matter the mission and an external water bottle pocket ensures you don’t have any liquids leak into your main compartment. The one big shortcoming of this bag - in my opinion - is that it lacks an external water bottle pocket. Yes, the bag’s dimensions make it quite bulky but it does at least have compression straps for cinching down the overall size of the bag when you don’t need all that extra space. There is also a padded laptop pocket on the rear panel. There is one on the front, two on the sides, and a hidden valuables pocket on the back. I want to say like 95% of this bag’s 45L storage capacity is all in the main compartment, leaving only a few small organizer pockets for your smaller items. The core design of the bag revolves around a single full-zip pocket where you can just cram all the stuff. This makes it one of the best travel backpacks for chronically overprepared travelers (such as myself). The Osprey Porter 46 Travel Backpack may seem dangerously close to the size limit for carry-on baggage, but it actually makes the cut for most domestic airlines.
